How Protective Bollards Prevent Damage & Injury

Protective Bollards

The extent of damage and injury which can be caused by an out of control vehicle can be huge – this is why the installation of protective bollards is so vital.

Protective bollards can be installed in all manner of situations to take the impact of a moving vehicle, thus protecting whatever lies behind them, whether it’s expensive equipment, machinery, a building’s infrastructure, stock, or pedestrians.

Made from strong galvanised steel, protective bollards, such as the ones we supply at Armco Direct, can be installed as static bollards.  The galvanisation process of the protective bollards makes them hardwearing, which means they are not only internally strong, but the outer layer leaves them suitable for use in all types of environments and weather conditions.

The standard bollards we provide are made from 100% recyclable steel, have a 5mm wall thickness, and are available for both dig in and bolt down installation with a height of 1.0m or 1.2m above ground.

We supply these protective bollards with the standard galvanised finish, but there is also the option of a powder coated yellow RAL 1007 option or a reflective chevron band, which allows for greater visibility. The high visibility makes the installation of protective bollards a preventative as well as protective measure, because they are easily seen and avoided.

Where protective bollards can be used

Because protective bollards can be used in a whole host of ways, we know that there’s not always a one size fits all solution. For this reason, we can provide bespoke bollards of any diameter, height or finish on request, depending on how and where they’re to be used.

This way you can be sure that the protective safety bollards which you choose will be completely safe and fit for purpose.

Protective bollards are not only used to prevent damage and injury, although this is the major reason why they might be installed. In addition they can be used to prevent acts of crime. When incidents such as this occur, a vehicle may not be out of control, but it could be being used to purposefully cause damage to people or property, enable ram raiding, theft, or trespassing carried out for criminal purposes. Again, protective bollards can be used to prevent the possibility of this taking place.

You might find protective bollards being used in the following places:

  • Car parks
  • Pedestrianised shopping areas
  • Building sites
  • Car dealerships
  • Warehouses and factories
  • Agricultural land
  • Loading bays
  • Vacant land
